It’s a girl!

cute face, no?

Five weeks ago our doctor told us we were having a boy. I was CONVINCED I saw a little boy part on the ultrasound (to be fair, Telfer wasn’t so sure)…so imagine my surprise at my 20 week ultrasound when the ultrasound technician says, and I quote, "this is no boy." So. We are most definitely having a girl and we couldn’t be more thrilled. Our girl will have certainly have no shortage of girl cousins to play with.

However, this turn of events most definitely raises the question: are the Young girls capable of producing the male gender? Discuss.

I am most definitely showing at this point and am getting some oh-so-helpful comments…yesterday, from someone I work with – "you are finally getting fat!" Thanks so much for that! Luckily, I like her and she was joking…I think…Anyway, since we finally decided on a girl name, I thought I’d share (Anne of Green Gables fans, you’ll get the middle name, everyone else, read the book):

Yeah– it is good to have you back in blog-land. I enjoyed the updates and pictures. Good choice for the little one’s name — I love it!

I am SO excited for you & telf. Girls are the best! You will be getting LOTS of cute hand-me-downs. πŸ™‚ Cate…I love it and I can’t wait to meet her. It is hard to believe that Neva will look big when she arrives. Love to you today!

  3. Austin Griffith

I’m sure the Youngs are capable of producing male offspring. In theory it would be a 50/50 chance, but in reality I think you can hedge your bets. Try putting cowboy boots under the bed….

I think it would be nice to have two girls in a row, I am so close to Gaylia, then a few boys in a row for Austin… πŸ™‚

I have just been watching the series again for the first time in years. Love it. I had “Oh Promise Me” sung at our wedding. It all just becomes part of our lives, doesn’t it?
Congrats. Don’t you just love ultrasounds!?!

Oh, thanks for all the kind words. We got our first horrified stare when we told someone that the name we picked out…I guess that’s just part of the territory, right?

Why in the world am I the only one who has a boy? Is it because I told everyone I wanted a girl? We’ll have to trade kids from time to time so I can do girly stuff. I personally love the name Cate, though the middle name is lost on me it sounds lovely.

    Matthew: It’s a girl.
    Marilla: I can see that.
I’ve been scoping out the baby departments for puffed sleeves. Providence, if that’s what you want to call Him, has certainly blessed the Griffiths. We are awfully excited for you guys!
